I have spent the majority of the day cleaning out the spare bedroom, preparing for our new bedroom suite to arrive. There is a lot of prepartion in remodeling/re-doing a room in your home. I guess that is why I put it off so. We have had these ideas to paint/re-paint several of our rooms, but it has gotten laid to the waste side, covered up with easier tasks to complete. I am not one for finishing projects...if you don't believe me, check out my wallpapered-or should I say unwallpapered- hall. It is going on 3 years of looking like that-maybe 4. I can't remember if I started that project before evy was born or the summer after...all I know is that it didn't go off without a hitch and it got put to the back burner.

But these projects will* get completed this summer-
Master bath redone
New paint in most rooms
Order new furniture for bedroom
New bunk bed for Evy
Create a working guest bedroom
New paint on garage/over-hangs and windows(?)
Something with the hall and my yellow bathroom...
And classroom painted!

It sure seems like a lot to take on in less than 6 weeks-really only 4 because I will be gone for 2 of them. But, I would like to stop being the one who puts things off...in the meantime, I best get back to my project...it still isn't complete.

What a difference a day makes...

That has probably been a title of a post already, but it is oh so true. I dealt with Evy's illness all day Tuesday, until I resorted to putting her in pull-ups~ since I had already washed 10 pairs of underwear-and my pants...and then she stopped! The whole thing took about 12 hours to get through her little system. Now I am much more concerned that it was a pool water upsetting her tummy, but alas it is finished. This was the morning before the sickness began
My creation

She was feel so much better by Tuesday evening that she wanted to go to the park...I said "no!" making me the bad guy, but decided we would go Wednesday morning. She wanted to go to the "red" park-which is actually a school- we walked almost to the park and I remembered that they were having summer school, so we turned around and went to the park down the street. We hadn't had any breakfast, so we packed a lunch and had a picnic lunch.
picnic wednesday

Then we played at the park. I worked on my Bible study while she laid across me. It was priceless...a day never to trade.

Dirty Jobs with Mike Rowe

I am a fan of dirty jobs. Discovery Channel exposes some of America's grosses jobs~those in which I never thought existed- and most of them I wish I didn't.

At the end of each show, Mike pleads with America to send them dirty jobs for them to participate in...well, I have a job!
Mom of a sick child!

The job of a mom is tough! I didn't really know how tough until I had applied for and got the job. Being a mom to a baby is a tough job-and sometimes- well most times...dirty. You have all the diaper changing, spit up, and all the gross bodily fluids that come from babies. I never really thought it was too gross...I mean a baby doesn't really know any better and they are so small and cute, it makes up for it, right?

Then real life hits...you have all the "grown-up" duties: cleaning the kitchen/cooking the lunch and dinner/mowing the yard/emptying the garbage/doing grocery shopping/teaching school/paying bills/pumping gas/reading my Bible/blogging! As a mom, I have added: wiping up spills/putting on band aids/doing the hair/finding a dress to wear everyday/cleaning up her room/making macaroni and cheese/swimming/going to the park...and then she gets sick!

Personally, I think taking care of a sick (almost) 4 year old- is a little dirtier/grosser than a sweet little infant. Any sick child is a dirty job. PERIOD! The throwing up/changing sheets/diarrhea in the panties/lots of laundry/added to what I already do makes for a tired mama (and papa!).

Last night, out sweet one came into our room-probably about 2-3a.m. She eventually said her tummy hurt and threw up and messed in her pants. She was devastated, crying and very upset. We washed her precious sleeping dress and panties and she fell asleep with daddy. He eventually maneuvered back to bed, but just a few minutes later, we changed panties again...this happened several more times throughout the night. I thought she would sleep all morning, but she was up at 8:15! That didn't last too long...she is now asleep again. I am not sure what is wrong...sick kiddos worry me. It is a dirty job that I will do-until done- and then pray fervently that it doesn't happen again for a while.

But...next time, I might invite Mike Rowe to come experience the dirty job of a MOM!

Not Me Monday

Welcome to Not Me! Monday! This blog carnival was created by MckMama. You can head over to her blog to read what she and everyone else have not been doing this week.

This week, I did not eat out every meal and then not workout because I was just too busy shopping! Instead I spend every available minute studying for the facilitation and skyping with my precious daughter, I left behind. Not Me!

I am not also considering not completing the reading course I began online...because I won't use it next year! Nope, I am more professional than that!

I did not let my kid play for hours at Chuck E. Cheese,

then take her for ice-cream and a toy at Toys R Us...because I missed her so much! Nope Not Me!

She didn't choose 6 pairs of high healed princess shoes as her only toy...and I didn't pay $35 for them!

Nope Not Me!

Evy did not put liquid eyeliner on her lips and proclaim that she found chocolate lipstick...and if it had happened, I certianly wouldn't have taken a picture of it!
No...that didn't happen, because I always have my eye on her!

oh...and we did not drive over 40 extra miles at 8:30 to go into the city to look for furniture. And it was sure wasn't a wasted trip since they were already closed! Nope Not Me!

It wasn't that eventful on the "not me" front this week. I did manage to complete a lot of face time and Bible Study while away, catch up with some friends...and got 2 shots like a big girl!

Recapping the Week

Last week I was teaching a Schools Attuned course. Usually, there are two facilitators, so you only present 1/2 of the curriculum AND for 1/2 of the day. However, when several people don't show up, only one facilitator teachers. So, I spent last week teaching alone, sleeping in a hotel room, eating dinner and lunch out, not exercising, and talking to my family through skype. Discovering skype made the being gone more barable, but I was definately very happy when the family joined me on Thursday.

The week began with rain- and ended with rain too...with a little in the middle. I was busy with teaching, studying, shopping and dinner. I didn't even turn the TV on once during the week and always ran out of time before things to do. I was able to work on my Beth Moore study, get on my face before God and have some much needed girl time with a great friend. Sad we live so far away.

This weekend I did a little furniture shopping. We are looking for bunk beds and a ring, and a new bed room set. Michael is a researcher when it comes to things like this...so we spend time checking things out before making the final decision. I am hoping we find some great deals.

All in all it was a great week, but I am glad I am home!

This is the ring!

Michael and I have been married for more than 10 years. For my 10 year anniversary present, I wanted a different wedding set. When we first got married, we didn't spend much money on the rings and mine isn't too sparkly anymore and feels as if the band is cracking in half. We planned to purchase a new bridal set and I have been dreaming of it ever since our anniversary passed in March. You know, things just come up!

When I am out shopping, I browse jewelry stores searching for the perfect ring. I also search online, occasionally. Today, we were passing the jewelry counter at wal-mart waiting for mom to finish and I browsed while Evy picked out this ring for her to get married. Isn't it pretty? Does she know that she is JUST 3 (almost 4)? Is she planning the wedding for soon? I am just not ready for this!?! She proceeded to tell the nice old women working the jewelry counter to tell everyone that this ring was for Evy and they couldn't buy it! And the sweet kind lady did tell a few strategic people, which satisfied my 3year old until she can get the ring for today.

Isn't it going to get rough? I mean lets be honest here, if you 3 year old is picking out wedding rings to marry Prince Charming...what is in store next? I'll tell you...it is a full on fit to wear make-up to be like mommy. She is such a girly girl and I love her to pieces, but I am really worried that the teenage years are going to put me in the grave be more than I can bear. I think for her fourth birthday she is going to be asking for a razor to shave her legs.

Maybe Jesus will come before then?

Nope! Not Me!

I normally don't participate in Not Me, Monday! because I don't have a lot of things that ahem~~don't~~ happen...but this week is a different story.

I did not play a rhyming game with my daughter in which she said inappropriate language and then laugh about it...nope not me! To be quite fair, she never has heard that word and just makes up pseudo words that usually begin with 'f' while rhyming. You know think-fink!

It wasn't me who laughed hysterically when Evy says the word "fat"--cause you know she learned how to say it from her "fat teacher at fat school."

I am not secretly wishing for multiple babies when we begin fertility treatment next month...or scared out of my mind that the endometrosis is back and that I will have to go into menopause again. Because this whole process is No Big Deal and I have already been down this road once. Oh...and I am looking forward to nightly shots in the legs and/or stomach...because I like needles that much.

I am definitely not PMSing this week and feel like chewing off peoples heads, because that is not one of the fruits of the spirit NOR the attitude that a new Sunday School teacher should have...no instead I am being sweet as punch.

I did not drink water with apple cider vinegar as required in the new eating plan I am testing in hopes to lose a few pounds before the fertility meds begin. This isn't the 42nd eating plan I have tried and I certainly did not gain 4lbs this week. I did however take a walk one night, but I didn't feel uncertain as to where I was going in the dark of night in my own neighborhood...and I didn't think that several inocent bystanders might be up to no good and plot my route of escape, should they try to knap me in the dark.
